I'm Melissa, but my friends call me Mel!
I'm a serial creative entrepreneur of sorts. I love cooking, photography, sewing and coming up with new ideas (I have a brain dump google doc full of them!). You can probably find me working in my workout clothes and no makeup. I am in full pursuit to living life to the fullest and with the least amount of baggage, both literally and figuritevly.
I am a Jesus loving military wife who loves a new adventure at the side of my husband, Brenton and our chocolate Lab, Sadie. In our four years of marriage we have lived in three different states! When we were living in Oklahoma for six months I was gifted my first DSLR camera. I took photos of everything I could and learned as much as I could about shooting manual! I always loved taking artsy photos with my point and shoot digital but this was something different. There was this gravitational pull towards that one thing that I creatively immersed myself in. I was filled with creative energy and it continues to grow. I took one photo, then another and then hundreds. Before I knew it I had friends and family asking me to capture their family's sweet memories.
And then I realized that life was way too short to do anything other than what you love. We are created by the ultimate Creative, God who give us pleasures to pursue and dreams to accomplish for His glory. Well friends, this is my dream...
The adventure continues daily - whether its working through the ups and downs of a new move, navigating through a deployment or capturing a sweet couple on the most intimate day of their lives - I wouldn't have it any other way. And this is where it comes back you my friend. Let's chat a bit more!
My philosophy
My clients are extremely important to me. I care deeply about them and the season of life they are in. I work tirelessly to capture simple, timeless and authentic moments in every session. I am a big believer that who you hire as a photographer is not just about the photos they provide but about the entire photography experience. Striving to tell your story through my images, providing you with photos to look back on 50 years from now and remembering exactly how you felt that day, in the moment.
