Fall is quickly approaching and I’m excited for one as a Colorado Springs Family Photographer. Fall has to be my favorite season to photograph in. The spring and summer greenery is great BUT sometimes I find it to be distracting and they cast a green tint onto skin. So once the plants go into winter mode I’m the most excited about taking photos! This amazing session took place on a perfectly temperate October evening. I had found the perfect spot in a nature preserve with open shade and dried grasses for a delicious golden look.
A family who loves Jesus, has fun with each other, and loves their children so tenderly truly makes my job so easy! And the Lee family definitely made my job so easy with their big smiles and easy going, fun loving approach to the session. Shoulder rides, hugs and a whole lot of giggles were front and center.

I am currently a Colorado Springs Family Photographer but this session was located in Central New Jersey.
The relationship between a mother and a daughter is something so special. There are so many well known quotes which depict that.
“A daughter is someone you laugh with, dream with, and love with all your heart.”

This motherhood session had all the beautiful and true emotions captured. Holly and Tatum played hide and seek, snuggled and sang! I’ll give you one guess which song this two year old little lady sang… If you guessed “Let it go!” you were correct! It was on repeat on my phone to butter her up to the camera.

Well, this is slightly embarrassing but very telling of how this website has been neglected. I photographed this sweet family over two years ago. It was one of my first’s after Evelyn’s birth. Sarah and Stephen met in Atlanta before moving to Princeton for a new job opportunity. Their sweet first born Livy was a a treat to photograph. Jordan Motherhood Session | STL Family Photographer | Rock Springs Park, O'Fallon
It had really been too long since I’ve written a blog post. There are way too many cobwebs to dust off. But here we are to show off these beautiful families who trust me so much to capture this sweet moment in their lives.
Meet Jordan and her beautiful children. Oh this sweet mama gets but this one day with her kids this old. She works tirelessly educating and raising them in the admonition of the Lord. She is the one behind the camera in all her photos on her phone’s camera roll. It’s a pleasure to see her on the other side and next to her son and daughter.

I have photographed this family multiple years now but i still have to show 2 year old twins and 4 year old big sis in their cute Christmas jammies during our PCB Home Petite Christmas session! They had a lot of fun drumming on the presents, snacking on cookies and and rolling around on the bed with Jingle Bells playing in background.

Still rolling deep in the 2019 sessions friends! There are so many to share I’ll be at my computer for years editing my Princeton Family Photography sessions.
A 4 year old and 2 year old twins… does that give you anxiety? Not me! It’s such a fun challenge to get them to warm up and have fun. Usually by the end of the session toddlers are laughing and smiling so easy for me. I have some tot-friendly no candy involved tricks up my sleeve.
The Strength family had their Princeton Battlefield Photography Session not too long after all the leaves fell from the trees. Leaving a crunchy blanket prime from throwing! And throwing of leaves we did. What a fun and lively bunch this was. A delight to work with and capture their wild season of life in.

I have about 20 sessions I haven’t shared between November 2019 and today! Between a deployment last year with an infant, the first trimester yuckies, then the Vid (this is what I’m calling Covid bc its like saying "you know who’s name”) and newborn life I really haven’t invested much time into this online space. But here is one of them!! Now don’t get too excited because unfortunately I’m not able to offer indoor mini-sessions in 2020. I am very much praying 2021 looks different and we can have PCB Home minis again!
Its not everyday a military family moves back to the region they went to college and definitely not common to even live 15 minutes from your college roommate and dance team Big! But that happened. Jess and I met when I was a freshman at Penn State when I joined the Whiplash Hip-Hop Dance Team. And we were housemates my Sophomore year! Oh we saw the good, the bad and the ugly of college life together as most college roommates do.
Jess and Alex met at Penn State in their program! And so I met Alex in the last 2000’s too! So to be able to photographer their sweet little family was a joy! Enjoy their 2019 Christmas Session at PCB Home in Cranbury, NJ.

In the Trenton area there is a postpartum mom’s group {Mama Love} my midwife referred me to when she learned Brenton was deploying. Elijah was around 6 months at that time and we were still in the throws of figuring everything out and barely sleeping at night. Some weeks it was my only outing during the deployment. Attending those meetings and playgroups was life saving so if you know anyone who is in the postpartum period in the Trenton area send them that way.
I met some amazing and strong moms in that group who voiced their struggles and triumphs fearlessly. And still during COVID and not being able to gather I got one of those amazing moms with her family in front of my camera.
Little Olivia is about to turn one in a few short days and to celebrate their one year of parenthood and Olivia joining their family booked a beautiful Princeton University family photography session. Always wanting to photograph on campus I was so excited when they preferred a more urban setting. Kevin actually graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary a few years ago so it was the perfect place for them! The session of course, fell on one of the hottest days of the summer and these cuties didn’t show it all!
What a treat it was to capture such a momentous celebration in their family. And of course as always I snuck mom and dad away for a few sweet shots in front of the chapel
Planning Your Photos with the Uncertainty of COVID-19 (UPDATED DEC. 2020)
Outdoor photography is currently permitted as long as we maintain social distancing measures.
I use a relatively long portrait lens, so I’ll still be able to keep a safe distance while capturing portraits, and I will be wearing a mask to sessions in the near term.
All sessions are subject to postponement if the laws change.

Newborn Sessions
Let me just say I miss your squishy newborn faces and treating my clients to a dinner.
Newborn sessions are typically very hands on, so these sessions will have to be adapted to be extra cautious for the health of babies. Newborn lifestyle sessions will still be in-home for the time being. I will be even more directive and ask permission to approach your family prior to capturing an image. During the session, I will focus on photos of you holding your little one and I will be wearing a mask. Thank you for inviting me into your home. I truly miss it!

Weddings
If you are in this position, I am so so sorry! I know many couples who have been affected in 2020.
You can read the official New Jersey Guidelines here. Photographers face potential fines for photographing events that break these rules.
Based on these guidelines, most couples are now opting to change their weddings to small ceremony only events with postponed receptions or to postpone completely. I do not recommend hosting a large event involving alcohol – there seems to be a direct correlation between alcohol and difficulties maintaining social distancing.
Outdoor events are now allowed for groups of 100 or less, but please know that government guidelines limit close group photos of people who do not live together, since these groups need to maintain a distance of six feet to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Way back in the beginning of September, Michelle approached me about capturing a little snap shot of their daughter’s first huge milestone… celebrating the big ONE YEAR! We took the journey up to Rosedale Park near Mercer Meadows. I love shooting at new locations and am so grateful when a client suggests them. Happy birthday sweet girl! Great adventure awaits. :)
Oh and that time I brought Elijah (7 months) with me and he cried the entire time only to come home and find out he had a 102 fever! Yeah I felt like a great mom that day…

My, how time seems to fly by! I’ve been in the throws of mothering our little baby boy and the world keeps on turning. The time has come, after nearly a year of “maternity leave”, I am so ready to take on clients in New Jersey!
One of those first clients was the O’Connor family. JP & Krista moved to Princeton from Seattle a few years ago as JP attends the Princeton Theological Seminary. We met at The Bridge Church back when Krista and I were both pregnant with our boys. Copeland is just about 2 months younger than Elijah so they’re basically besties! I’m so glad God has brought our families together during our time in NJ. Our love for the PNW and our boys made us quick friends.
The air was a most welcomed crispy one on this first of November day. Nearly the end of daylight savings time, the sun hung low and peaked softly through the trees in its golden splendor, wooing me back after a long hiatus away. Dappled golden light, a happy family… I’m hooked again.

Aiden Turns One!
New Jersey Photographer | Family Photography | One Year Session
As a military family we have the privilege of visiting (if not living in) places we had no idea even existed. And in those places we get to meet people who we had no idea existed but sure are glad do! The McBrides are one of those people. Its very rare you hear of families living at the same base multiple assignments in a row, unless you are a KC135 or C17 pilot. Then all roads lead to Altus AFB, Oklahoma. And that is where we were reunited with the McBrides. They were stationed there while Brenton was at training for the C17. It was such a different and more enjoyable experience this time in Altus because we knew so many people stationed there!
Tim and Vicki (aka dada and mama) asked me to capture photos of their sweet son Aiden in celebration of his 1st Birthday! Tim and Vicki had a very similar journey to growing their family that we did. They experienced much heartache and waited a long time for Aiden. Having a baby now after the long wait, I know even more the value of having photos taken…. the moments you’ve waited for go by so freaking fast! Aiden has spent one whole year in Tim and Vicki’s arms and I pray they have many more hugs, kisses, shoulder rides, laughs and smiles togethers. Thank you so much for allowing me to capture this moment in your lives!

A few weeks ago I climbed back on the photography horse after Elijah was born. It felt so amazing to get back behind the camera for Caleb’s one year old celebration session. We were connected through a mutual friend, Lauren, when we moved to central New Jersey. Melissa and her family have been huge in us relocating smoothly.
Caleb was such a great model during the session. He has the silliest little grin and when given crackers he had the cutest face! And of course babies on grass is just about the funniest thing you’ve ever seen, poor babes. You’ll also see some photos of Melissa and Justin sprinkled in the post. I always make sure to offer mom and dad some photos of just the two of them. Usually their last professional photos of just the two of them were at their wedding! So always say yes to snuggly photos with your honey while your babe in running circles around you.
For the sake of sounding too cliche, now that I have a babe I realize how precious each moment truly is. It seriously goes by so face! Moments happen like first teeth (currently going through this), I’m so grateful to the Hunter family for asking me to capture their one year old Caleb in this moment. Thank you so much Caleb, Melissa and Justin!

I have been waiting for a solid nap when I don’t want to sleep to share this magical one year old photo session.
Way back in the fall when I was passing through Oklahoma a dear friend was also in town and asked me to take one year photos of her daughter. The weather was fantastic in November for a Golden hour milk bath photo session! Lindsey was extremely thoughtful choosing the details of Whitley’s photo session. There is beautiful meaning behind every detail of this shoot. The most meaningful are those sunflowers you see. Lindsey’s brother unexpectedly passed away over the summer and those bright yellow sunflowers embody everything about her brother. And so of course Whitley honored her uncle by dawning beautiful sunflowers in her hair and in the bath!

Want to know how I spent my last spring in Spokane? Cramming in photographing the best families and assisting photog friends at weddings!
We are currently in Oklahoma where my guy is learning to fly his new plane and we'll be heading up to good old New Jersey in November! I'll be uber pregnant by then (32 weeks) and I'm sure so ready for the colder weather. It's kissing 100 today, okay to be honest this is just about every day since we got here but I'm actually enjoying myself in the AC and sneaking in an hour or two at the base pool.
Onto this fabulously cute family session with a favorite reoccurring client of mine, the ever wonderful Ornelas Family. I met Michel when Kason was in her belly 4 year ago. Her husband, Dave, and my fly boy worked together and honestly I have photographed this family about 4 times! And each session we have kept getting better and better.
The lighting was absolutely perfect for this late spring photo shoot. Not too high and not too late in the day so the youngsters were still loving life... actually they got fro-yo after the session so I would have been on my best behavior too! Taking that parenting tip and sticking it in my back pocket for a few years down the road... I think bribing kiddos with healthy sweet treats is perfectly fine. No judgement here, we all know you do it!

Can I just say that the biggest compliment I can receive is when a previous client refers someone to me. The Madakia family is a product of just that! Allison, Amit and Anaya pulled up to Manito Park on the coldest day! It must have been 20 degrees when we started the session. Thankfully the sun was out and little Anaya was able to run around (another reason why I love my no-pose photography approach!). To say I was more than excited when I saw Allison wearing that beautiful sparkly maternity is an understatement! I recall saying "This dress is just perfect!! I'm obsessed!" like 100 times. The way the sun hit those sequins made my heart beat a little faster when I looked through the lens.
Yeah, can we talk about the sun for a minute!?! Obviously winter in the PNW doesn't see many sunny days but the cold front that rolled in started with it! I mean, I can and do take photos on cloudy days and they are lovely but nothing is more beautiful than the way that golden light peeks through the trees. Playing with sun flares through my lens. Capturing the golden haze back lit photos created. Anaya radiated with her baby boy bump in that golden sunlight. If you haven't seen my Instagram post about golden hour, it is so worth the early alarm or late evening! You will never regret it after seeing the photos.

For the family photography side of business, October-December is my busiest time and I love it. While wedding season winds down my other favorite side (I really don't love one more than the other! I just love being behind my camera and capturing moments for anyone and everyone!) picks up! It's the best. And then come January/February I get my "summer vacation". <--- hoping for another trip to Hawaii in February to enjoy the slower season of photography!
I have been blessed with families who keep scheduling sessions with me! I guess I must be doing something right {insert shrug emoji}. I love seeing reoccurring faces in front of my camera. The first time I photographed this family was May 2015 for my very first Mommy and Me mini-session marathon when Claire, their youngest, was barely walking! Being able to watch my clients grow is just the best!

I kind of couldn't believe it when I returned the home of one of my first clients to photograph their second baby! It was nearly two years ago I walked through those doors nervous and excited to photograph their first daughter, Maddie, on my second newborn session ever! Now I've done plenty and was so excited to get my camera focused on (and baby snuggles in) on Courtney and Kyle's second daughter, Anna.
Another Christmas baby! I have always loved Christmas and the thought of having a December baby with all the snuggles around the Christmas tree makes want to have a baby in December! Until then I get to snuggle other people's babies around their Christmas trees while capturing this precious moment in their family..
